*Highly contagious/spreads fast… rabbit may shake or scratch at ears, inner ears will have appearance yellow or brownish color substance.

What are the medicinal treatments for ear mites?

*Quarantine and Sanitize! Vet may offer topical ointment as treatment.

What are the homeopathic treatments for ear mites?

*Quarantine and Sanitize!… treat with olive oil (or baby oil) with 6-7 drops of apple cider vinegar or tea tree oil… lightly coat both ears (rabbit will probably shake his head, so hold sides of ears together to prevent mixture from being shaken out) – treat daily for 5-7 days, then re-treat every 3rd day for a total of 30 days (to ensure all eggs are killed)… no need to remove/wipe out the build-up, doing so can cause infection from open sores and can be painful.

How can be prevented ear mites?

Keep cage clean and dry, and try to keep rabbit away from any other rabbits which may have ear mites, also quarantine all new rabbits … routinely check and clean inner ears by gently wiping them off with tea tree / mineral / or baby oil or raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar.
